Celtic Dragon Wallet/Checkbook Cover
| Dragon Wallet |
You know the ugly vinyl checkbook covers that banks send with your box of checks? Well, I had been using one of those for a long time. It was cracking and tearing and just looked awful. It was time for a new one. Instead of buying one, mainly because I couldn't find one I liked, I decided to make one. I searched through deviantart.com to find the perfect for me drawing. I found a gorgeous Celtic dragon by Sarah Pauline (http://www.sarahpauline.com/). I wrote to the artist to say how much I enjoyed her drawing and that I was going to make a wallet for my personal use with the picture. She is an extremely talented artist.

I had to manipulate the drawing a little to get the scale correct for my wallet. To start, I duplicated and reversed the drawing and lined up the 2 sides. Then I copied a thin portion along the top edge, stretched it slightly, added a bit of swirls to it and duplicated it several times. I reversed every other duplication and lined them all up with the larger image. This now gave me the width that I needed for the wallet with out distorting the beautiful dragon and Celtic knotwork. Here is my finished wallet. I added plenty of spots for credit cards, papers, money, and the checkbook. It's about 8" by 8" laying open. I added a snap closure with 2 different closing positions, one for when it's cleaned out and one for when it's full of receipts.
